Ruth Cracknell Room
Sydney Theatre's dedicated function room is situated in the historic shell of an 1880s Bond Store. It features original brickwork, beams and columns, giving it evocative warmth. Sliding partitions mean that the Ruth Cracknell Room can overlook the atmospheric Richard Wherrett Studio providing a range of options for the configuration of events, including the opportunity for function guests to view performances below.

The Ruth Cracknell Room is suitable for standing functions for up to 100 people or seated events for 60 to 70 people. It is also suitable for meetings in a range of configurations and has an adjacent food preparation area.

Richard Wherrett Studio
Sydney Theatre's rehearsal space, the Richard Wherrett Studio, features historic brickwork, iron bark beams and the remnants of the original equipment used to power the Bond Store in which it sits.

When not being used for artistic purposes it is available for use for corporate events such as product launches, dinners and meetings.

It is suitable for dinners for up to 120 people or standing events for a maximum of 220 people. It is situated on the ground floor with access direct from the foyer. Sliding partitions mean that there can be a visual and aural connection between the Richard Wherrett Studio and the Ruth Cracknell Room on the mezzanine above. The studio has a fixed lighting rig.

Foyers
Sydney Theatre's foyer spaces successfully marry atmospheric elements of the historic Bond Store with striking contemporary design and materials such as white marble, black terrazzo, zinc and steel to create a dramatic backdrop for any event. The most distinctive features of the foyer are a wooden panelled screen in pastel colours that has been created from timber salvaged from the derelict wharves of the Walsh Bay area, and a major sculptural work of art, called Wave Machine.

There are two bars, one on the ground and one on the first floor, as well as an external balcony.

The foyer spaces combined suit events for a maximum of 700 people standing.

Yarra Burn Balcony
The theatre's external balcony overlooks Hickson Road with harbour glimpses possible between Walsh Bay's newly restored heritage shore-sheds. The balcony is a substantial space suitable for alfresco events. While guests on the balcony can easily access the main bar on this level, there is also provision for external bar facilities in this space.

The Yarra Burn Balcony is suitable for standing events for a maximum of 80 people, and dinners for 50.

Hickson Road Bistro
Sydney Theatre's 100-seat restaurant, Hickson Road Bistro, is located on the ground floor next to the theatre. Indoors, the bistro's impressive design - featuring artwork by young Sydney artist, Jonathan Jones - provides a dramatic backdrop while an outdoor area takes advantage of the leafy Hickson Road streetscape.

On nights when there are no performances at Sydney Theatre Hickson Road Bistro can be booked for events for up to 150 people standing, or 80 people seated.
